Digital sobriety: because living in a healthy world is also a user need.
Our goal at Devsights is always to design digital products that are high quality, relevant and will support you in your present and future challenges.
Among these challenges is one we all have to face: the ecological footprint of digital technology.
"The environment and digital technology are often perceived as two distinct or even opposing worlds. Yet it's hard to imagine a bright, resilient future without linking technology and ecology. It just goes to show that living in a healthy world is also a user need." (Viviane Samson, UX/UI designer)
Some countries, like France, already have a legal framework for greener digital practices, and Quebec could follow suit. For example, we already have laws on programmed obsolescence, personal data protection and accessibility. The W3C accessibility principles encompass certain eco-design principles, such as optimizing content so that it is lighter to load, making it less energy-consuming.
In addition to being an ethical gesture, adopting an eco-responsible digital plan means preparing the ground. But where to start? Our designer Viviane suggests a possible solution:
Digital sobriety: because living in a healthy world is also a user need.
Remember, it's never too late to learn. At Devsights, we're just starting out too, so we'd love to hear your advice!
